Month of September and a Life Time of Living for God

September 2010

This month I would like to talk about an article I read on CNN about women who decided that she did not want to be a Christian anymore and QUIT? Fortunately for her, it is not that simple! If she is in fact a Christian and has accepted Jesus as the son of God, then there really is no quitting! She may be discouraged with actions of Christians, but unless she denies God and the existence of Jesus as the Son of God, then she has no choice in God’s eye.

We talked about this in our Youth Sunday School as well as about the church as a whole. We talked about the church as a whole being involved with each other, involved in the church, and involved out of the church. When someone is ill people need to help with food, helping clean, and doing what was necessary. People need to be involved with missions work and outreach within the community. It seems like people were more active when I was young and cared more about each other during that time. One of the youth brought me back to reality by saying that other churches that they have attended are the same way, so it made me realize that there are not churches, but good Christian followers of God who still follow God’s will for themselves and for the church.

I am not saying that those who go to church or try and follow God’s path are not good followers of God’s will, but we all need direction in what God will have us do and to follow his will every minute of every day throughout our lives here on earth. Look at the truth, “Everyone we come into contact with should see God shining through us”! Can you honestly say people see God in you every minute of every day? Honestly, I cannot say that! It is no wonder that people who looking for a church home or look a t Christianity as a whole may get discouraged because the church as a whole has become stagnant and there are many who do not let God shine through them in everything they do. I did not say all churches or the vision, just the people within the church.

Is it all gloom and doom! Of course not!!! Through God all things are possible and every place that the word of God is spoken he is with us. If you remember above I said in our youth class we had a discussion about the church. I have to admit it took a real bashing but one of the youth made a comment about the church having a plan for functions, bible study, outreach, and missions. Our thoughts and discussion will continue through the next few weeks on their thoughts about what God want his people to do, think of plans to obtain God’s will, and what to do to implement them.

Trinity Baptist as well as many other churches are filled with followers of God in every way! I know that God is with us always and I know that he has great things in store for us as with so many other churches across this nation and across the world. But as we all know, God is with us and will guide us but we have to open our hearts to his will and do our part!!
In looking up religion in the Bible, I only came across 2 versus and they both apply to giving and helping others whether they are followers of God or not. We should strive to help all, tell others about God our father and his son Jesus Christ who he sent to die for our sins so that one day we will be with him, and to live our lives here on earth doing God’s will and not ours!

1 Timothy 5:4 (King James Version)
4But if any widow have children or nephews, let them learn first to show piety at home, and to requite their parents: for that is good and acceptable before God.
  James 1:27 (King James Version)
27Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

These are only my views and none others.
God Bless
